FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can timber flooring be used with underfloor heating?

Yes, however you’re flooring choice will be limited to high quality engineered flooring and/or you will require specific installation methods to ensure long lasting performance.

I have already purchased my flooring. Can Peak Floor Trades install it?

Absolutely. We do this frequently and are happy to use the flooring that you’ve chosen for your home or commercial space.

How is the cost calculated for installation?

More often than not, the price is calculated on a metre square basis. This takes into account materials, labour and fixed costs.

How long does the installation process typically take?

This varies on the size of the job and any technical requirements. We happily work in with many other sub trades to keep the ball rolling and get jobs finished on time.

At what step in the building process should a timber floor be installed?

On a standard build, we like to start once the painter have finished and depending on kitchen specifications, we can either go before or after kitchens are installed. Skirtings need to be left of and fitted after the laying process. Any issues with the concrete, slab or substrate need to be pointed out prior to when the installation starts so these can be addressed.

I’m doing a renovation. Are there any limitations to what I can do?

Flooring heights are the main issue here. We will need to look at existing windows, doors and adjacent flooring so that your new timber floor fits seamlessly.

How do I maintain my timber floor?

Each floor has their own specific requirements. We prefer to use flooring that is hard wearing and light on maintenance. From cleaners to maintenance waxes, there are a variety of options and these will be advised depending on your flooring choice.
